I mean in comparison to healthcare before, the ACA was progressive surely? Obviously not that good, but a progressive step in that context.

It was based off of a Healthcare model that came out of conservative think tanks & Mit Romney ran a version of it in his state. It only looks progressive because Republicans have gotten so radical

I know that, but in comparison to the *actual* state of healthcare prior to the ACA, it was a progressive move. The actual people who proposed it isn't necessarily the point.

But that's my point. The Republicans have gotten SO radical that they voted against a plan that THEY came up with. It wasn't progressive it was Conservative & market based. Obama gave the Republicans everything they wanted & the TEA Party radicals voted against it anyway

It depends on the context though. Something that was once progressive is now conservative, and in some cases such as some pre-Thatcher or Reagan ideas were once conservative and are now progressive. This isn't hard to grasp.

This argument makes these terms useless. It was a Conservative policy at the time. Obama adopted a Conservative policy. Obama wanted to cut social security & Medicare too, but Republicans voted against it. I guess cutting Social Security & Medicare is progressive now too

It’s not progressive because of its ideals, not because of who voted for it. Is legalizing marijuana progressive because trump is for it?

No, that's my point! I'm arguing that the policy is progressive or conservative regardless of the party that votes for it. The ACA was a Conservative market based policy, it was not progressive.
