Again not entirely correct. Housing isn't always a good investment and there are other ways to build wealth, also building wealth through home ownership means you rely on home prices going up more than inflation.

"sometimes assets depreciate" does not negate the fact that owning assets is how wealth accumulates. It is true that real estate is a major component in middle and upper class wealth.

Property taxes are ~20% of what rent would be by my estimation. Maybe less. Nobody would choose renting.
