@r_garrison talks about the real-life impacts of hate speech. (part 1) Shepherd was so upset that she Tweeted at the MP claiming that he: "...thinks he is special & unique for getting mean online comments" & "...treats it like it's the most interesting thing about his life"pic.twitter.com/ZytFXz50ON1 reply 2 retweets 29 likesShow this thread -

The adorable thing is, I absolutely could. But they're not real anti-censors. So. Oh well.

There's a couple but all hate speech is hotly contested. A guy who was teaching holocaust denial to his highschool students and grading them on it was up for debate.

The idea that Hate Speech laws and especially obscenity laws in Canada haven't been the centre of a ton of controversy is laughable. But most of that affected minorities and LGBTQ. And none of these people want an actual end to censorship. Just censorship used on them.

Wait, but where was someone convicted of something that wasn't hate speech?

Well you got Ahenakew. He was found guilty when he wasn't promoting 'violence'. Just spouting off saying stupid garbage. Which is bad. Which he apologised for. Which IMO wasn't enough. Anti-censors proved in the higher court it wasn't hate speech and got it overturned.

The thing that was special about his case was that he was Native. I've heard many radio show hosts, youtubers who are from Canada say a thousand times worse. And get nothing. Can you guess why?
