So a centrist independent is a threat to Democrats but not to Trump? Do Democrats think their party is fractured the such a degree that more Democrats would leave the party for Schultz? Why isn't the narrative inverted? Why aren't Republicans worried about Trump losing votes?

For the sake of argument lets pretend that's valid, read what that says really clearly before you think it's a good point. And then realize the peak on the conservative side is still skewed a little towards the right and is far higher than the biggest one on the liberal side.

What do you say when the argument shifts this framing? That the Overton window has moved so far left that centrists now seem like conservatives? Or are (traditional) conservatives now moving closer to the center? Or are you claiming that moderate progressivism is now the center?
