He's saying that one day the sun will die and we'll all die with it so what's the point in worrying about making it until then! Pretty reasonable position in my opinion. Y do anything if Ur just gonna die one day anyway?

I think that was his point? Virtually all renewable energy stems from the sun, nothing aside from geothermal energy stems from Earth itself. It's still a totally dumb point because the sun or geothermal energy won't run out in the forseeable or unforseeable future.

He's ignoring the context, it's not good enough to merely have a store of energy (the sun) it has to be gathered, concentrated, and harnessed in a way that preferably self renews, normally through natural processes. Gasoline is concentrated solar power, but it doesnt self renew.

I think he’s trying to say that renewable energy doesn’t exist because energy can’t be created or destroyed. But he is ignoring the fact that the phrase is actually “renewably sourced energy”. Electricity is the same whether it comes from solar, nuclear, or coal
