Would love to make a show for a network that doesn't do this. If you work at one, let's talk.https://twitter.com/StevieVanZandt/status/1209062843091427330 …

As Maureen points out, the credits to a film or tv show should not be sped up, shrunken, or skipped. It is totally disrespectful to the Guest Actors, the Extras, the Crew, and the Music Credits! The Union contracts shouldn’t allow it. #LetCreditsRoll

A show represents the cumulative tireless work of hundreds of creative artists who dream of one day having their names shrunk into a tiny box and then cut off abruptly by a trailer for The Witcher.

I feel the opposite actually. Credits are not entertainment. They’re disrespectful of the audience. In a movie theater it’s different because you have the choice of staying or leaving, and most people leave. On broadcast tv, credits are stealing your time. They’re metadata.

Audiences can skip whatever they want - I went to the bathroom three times during the last Avengers movie and I don't regret it - I just resent distributors making the decision for them, especially when their default sidelines the people who make the content.

Also, just from an artistic standpoint, I want to give my audience a beat to digest the episode they just watched before skipping to the next one. I feel like the people who watch my shows are getting a worse experience when they aren't offered that opportunity.

I feel like the only way I have seen to get around without just having the credits over the last minute or two of the show (bad) is to actually have a post credit scene, which completely destroys the point of a break.

FWIW, I've been really annoyed at how hard I've had to work to be able to listen to the end credits song this season of Bojack. But I've still done it, because you're 100% right.

Yes, thank you! I just want an option on my profile where I can turn off the skip intro/skip credits, is that too much to ask? (I know the answer is yes.)

I watch all of these shows on my XBox so by the time the skipping-to-next-episode countdown begins, my controller has turned itself off and I have to get it to turn on again before the time runs out.

As it is, anyone who wants to take a beat after your show can do so. If you want the beat to be part of the curated experience, you should build it into the body of the show.

I did build it into the body of the show. It’s the part of the show where we play a song over black while the credits roll.
