Excellent issue posing questions such as Are we asking the right questions in transgender research? I think however the authors could have gone further in making the point that there are many questions to ask because so little research in this area has been carried out.

Neuroscience research papers are 8 times more likely to only study male participants compared with female-only studies. Only 4% of papers look for sex differences in their data, suggesting that neurological disorders in women may be overlooked.

My father died from bladder cancer and its a grossly under funded area for research, yet not that uncommon in older people.

If i could capture that look on student faces when I tell them that back in the day we had to manually develop photos, stick them to a piece of cardboard and annotate with Letraset to create a figure for a journal.
I think you could have probably drawn those conclusions without the survey. Some positives but still a long way to go.
