If you're thinking that you're giving people an "incentive" to stay, ask yourself if you think you'll get better work from free people or prisoners. A better incentive to work at a company is to know they'll treat you fairly.

This is awful. Was just reading about something similar at an animation studio I follow. It's so important to credit people for their contributions and I have zero idea why some companies pull petty stuff like this. I wish people were treated better at these studios.

Some managers seem to take it as a personal affront if you choose to leave the perfect utopia they’ve created, and they want to make you regret it. Some have just gotten used to the policy in other places and think it’s standard practice. In my view, it’s small and pathetic.
