Nobody has an unlimited capacity to help. The fact that you’re spending your capacity on someone like Stallman, rather than, say, indigenous climate activists priced out of the cities where they do their lobbying? Says a lot about the type of behavior you want to see more of.
You can always find another group that's more downtrodden than the person or group of people you're helping now, that's not a reason to stop helping whoever you're currently helping.

I’m questioning why Zed, a _public_ figure in tech, would _publicly_ assist a man who for 30 years has denigrated, belittled, and pushed out from tech people from marginalized groups.

Once again: because I don’t think that deserves a death sentence and an event like this to a person like Stallman could very well end up that way. I also reject the implication that helping him means I agree with him. That’s how fascists think.
