I definitely think it's because Resident Evil 8 is more of a known quantity for people given the reputation of the series and the demos Capcom has made available.

I wish more developers would put out demos to give people a feel of the game before asking us to put down $60-70 for a triple A title. I remember giving more attention to games if they were on a PS demo disc or if I could download a freeware sample on the computer.
