    Ever since I ran for office, I’ve been an advocate for criminal justice reform. I believe in second chances, especially for nonviolent offenders. I think we are better served as a society if we rehabilitate and reintegrate into society those who have served their time.

    There are people who do need to be incarcerated, but a large amount of our prison population are non-violent offenders, and I think we need to find a different pathway for them.
