    This week, was the voice of the majority of conservative opinion as he opposed the $40b Ukraine aid package. Other legislators need to follow suit, but the reason as to why they don't is unfortunately obvious. I explain for :

    I defy anyone to read this thread - a summary of the Senate speech he gave - and argue he's wrong. Even if you support flooding Ukraine with endless US money and weapons, the amounts are staggering, the risks of escalation severe. Shouldn't there at least be oversight?

    My oath of office is to the U.S. Constitution, not to any foreign nation. Congress is trying yet again to ram through a spending bill – one that I doubt anyone has actually read – and there’s no oversight included into how the money is being spent.

    Senator is standing up for the American people by asking for oversight and accountability into how taxpayer dollars are spent in support of Ukraine. For context, $40 billion is more than the entire budget for the Department of Justice.

    Agree. That’s why I offered an amendment for an Inspector General with a great record of tracking wasteful spending in Afghanistan. They’ll eventually pass the spending without me, as they always do, but at the very least they need to include oversight.

    You can’t find baby formula in the United States right now but Congress is voting today to send $40 billion to Ukraine. Let’s put America First for a change.

    While I sympathize with the people of Ukraine, and commend their fight against Putin, we cannot continue to spend money we don’t have. Passing this bill brings the total we’ve sent to Ukraine to nearly $54 billion over the course of two months.

    Only in Congress would ’s demands that the U.S. provide a modicum of oversight for the billions of dollars worth of weapons we are shipping to a country with a history of corruption and illegal arm sales be considered “unreasonable”.
