Public officials should not use their security clearances to leverage speaking fees or network talking head fees

As soon as anyone leaves any job in the public or private sector ALL security clearances MUST & should be revoked not solely for the former employer's safety & security but for that of the former employee too! I'm shocked & angry to hear this is not SOP in our government! WTF?!
-
It's so they can consult with their successors and Congress when necessary.
-
If & when they ever work for the government again, they can reapply for the appropriate clearances; as is Standard Operating Procedure in all other entities across the board globally. If you once rented a room in your home to someone, would you want them to retain a key forever?
-
Seriously? You don't understand this? They are NOT going to briefings. If they are getting CURRENT info it's being leaked from the WH. What they use the clearances for is to be able to consult with their REPLCEMENTS about past cases or to testify in front of Congress.
-
That's not the same as going back to work for the government at a later date.
-
Or so they can have classified info leaked to them w/o the offender getting into trouble for it. Absolutly NO NEED for clearance...Clarence!
-
Rescinding Security Clearances that are no longer required on a daily basis, would certainly help narrow the pool of possible leakers!
-
No one can receive classified information without a need to know. Clearance or not.

Quite disappointing; I use to actually like you Rand. Drawing up a list of partisans to be blacklisted from government work. If you carry forward with this idea your name will become synonymous with
#McCarthyism. -
McCarthyism? At least McCarthy maintained the pretense of a national security threat. This is naked personalism: an effort to proscribe Trump's personal enemies.
-
Ah, well I do agree, they (Trumpist GOPers) are attempting to create the pretense also: identifying the media as our greatest enemy justifies going after their sources/commentators, and soon I expect the net will widen (academics are not popular in their circles for example).

Revoking their clearances is important to keep these malcontents from discussing highly sensitive security issues with holdover employees. Those still there are looking for a sympathetic ear, and having Brennan involved is inappropriate and dangerous.
-
The hatred and vitriol exhibited by these former Obama administration officials is reason enough to remove their clearances. They shouldn't be playing politics with this info, or they should release the un-redacted info to all of us.

Perhaps with your 166 followers you can make comments like that. Not with me. B-bye

Absolutely. Should have been done a year ago.
@realDonaldTrump can do it summarily, with a wave of the hand. The President has absolute authority here. [National Security clearances are a clear and distinct privilege, not some elitist right bestowed upon them from a past job!] - 1 more reply
