Being trans is actually pretty funny, if you're someone who actually knows about the subject matter. How could volunteering for a second puberty *not* be funny? That isn't what he is doing though. Our existence is 'funny' to him - and when we object to his harm, we're "offended".

The problem is that people are responding to something we never said. We aren't complaining about "being offended" and we don't have "thin skin". You try going to a pharmacy and having them call you "sir" in front of everyone while you pick up your estradiol. "Thin skin"

What we object to is the harm that content like this does to the trans community (especially trans people of color) and VERY specifically Black trans women. People who look like me aren't being killed. I'm a white woman, I get to worry about Starbucks writing "Tara" on my drink.

Promoting TERF ideology (which is what we did by giving it a platform yesterday) directly harms trans people, it is not some neutral act. This is not an argument with two sides. It is an argument with trans people who want to be alive and people who don't want us to be.

This all gets brushed off as offense though - because if we're just "too sensitive" then it is easy to ignore us. I'm surprised I haven't had anyone call me (ironically) "hysterical" yet today.

So who does this harm? Why don't we go over the list of some people from the US who aren't offended by Dave Chappelle's special.

Tyianna Alexander, a 28-year-old Black trans woman who was shot to death in Chicago on January 6th. Friends said she had "good energy". Tyianna is not offended.

Samuel Edmund Damián Valentín, a trans man, was killed on January 9th in Puerto Rico. He wrote on January 1st about the new year to come and finding justice in it. Samuel is not offended.

Bianca “Muffin” Bankz, a Black trans woman, was shot to death in Atlanta, GA on January 17th. Said the founder of a local housing coalition: "Muffin was just blossoming into herself" Bianca is not offended.

Dominique Jackson, a Black trans woman, was shot to death in Jackson, Miss. on January 25th. She was remembered fondly by friends. Dominique is not offended.

Fifty Bandz, a 21-year-old Black trans woman, was shot to death in Baton Rouge on January 28th. On Facebook, one friend shared, “When are we as a community going to do something?!” Fifty is not offended.

Alexus Braxton, a 45-year-old Black trans woman, was killed on February 4th in Miami. Friends and advocates said her name as they released balloons to remember her life. Alexus is not offended.

Chyna Carrillo was killed on February 18th in New Wilmington, PA. She had just turned 25. Chyna is not offended.

Siblings Jeffrey “JJ” Bright, a 16-year-old trans boy, and Jasmine Cannady, a 22-year-old non-binary person, both from Ambridge, Pennsylvania, were killed on February 22. Jasmine loved to dance and "they cared deeply for their friends" Jeffrey and Jasmine aren't offended.

Jenna Franks, a 34-year-old transgender woman, was killed in Jacksonville, NC in February. She was described as "a beautiful soul" and "a breath of fresh air". Jenna is not offended.

Diamond Kyree Sanders, a 23-year-old Black transgender woman, was shot to death in Cincinnati on March 3rd. "Diamond was a traveler, known to be in New York City one week and New Orleans the following week" Diamond is not offended.

Rayanna Pardo, a 26-year-old Latina trans woman, was killed on March 17th in Los Angeles. A candlelight vigil was held in her name on March 20th. Rayanna is not offended.

Jaida Peterson, a 29-year-old Black trans woman, was killed on April 4 in Charlotte, NC. A vigil was held on April 9th to remember her. Jaida is not offended.

Dominique Lucious, a 26-year-old Black transgender woman, was shot and killed on April 8 in Springfield, Missouri. Dominique was a fan of the TV show “Empire." Dominique is not offended.

Remy Fennell, a Black transgender woman in her 20s, was shot to death on April 15 in Charlotte, NC. N.C. Remy's aunt said, “She was a vibrant young transgender woman who was just trying to make it & was doing it." Remy is not offended.

Tiara Banks, a 24-year-old Black transgender woman, was killed in Chicago, Illinois on April 21, 2021. She was sitting alone in her car when the shooter approached her and shot her multiple times. Tiara is not offended.

Natalia Smut, a 24-year-old Black and Puerto Rican transgender woman, was killed on April 23 in Milpitas, California. Friends and community members organized a vigil for Natalia, with more than 100 people attending. Natalia is not offended.

Iris Santos, a 22-year-old Latinx transgender woman, was killed in Houston, Texas on April 23, 2021. Iris was sitting at a picnic table enjoying a meal when an unidentified suspect approached and shot her. Iris is not offended.

Tiffany Thomas, a 38-year-old Black transgender woman, was killed on April 24 in Dallas, Texas. Tiffany is being remembered as someone who had a “big heart, who was “funny” and “stayed laughing." Tiffany is not offended.

Keri Washington, a 49-year-old Black transgender woman, was killed on May 1 in Clearwater, Florida. Keri is not offended.

Jahaira DeAlto, a 42-year-old transgender woman, was killed on May 2 in Boston, Mass. She was a well-known and beloved transgender advocate, advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and member of the ballroom community. Jahaira is not offended.

Whispering Wind Bear Spirit, a 41-year-old Indigenous non-binary person, was shot in York, Pennsylvania on May 3 and died early on May 4. They were remembered as "a beautiful and kind soul". Whispering Wind is not offended.

Sophie Vásquez, a 36-year-old Latina transgender woman, was shot and killed in Georgia on May 4. She is remembered as “the kindest person on the planet” and as someone who was “truly beautiful inside and out." Sophie is not offended.

Danika “Danny” Henson, who also went by Pryynce Daniel and Niia Da Don on Facebook, a 31-year-old Black transgender woman, was shot and killed in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 4. Henson also may have identified as genderfluid. Danika is not offended.

Serenity Hollis, a 24-year-old Black transgender woman, was shot and killed in Albany, Georgia, on May 8. Her mother asked for justice for her. Serenity is not offended.
