There was a chimpanzee named Washoe who learned American Sign Language and could converse with the trainers. Also a gorilla (in California?) that was able to converse and combine existing words to form new concepts.

If this species is intelligent- ans it sure looks like it is- then how do wee feel allowed to keep it in captivity?

The intelligence of primates has always fascinated me and worried me a little. I always liked the Planet of the Apes movies.
