One thing the Simpsons gets wrong. In many episodes they have catastrophic things happening in the Springfield nuclear power plant, but excessive radiation is represented as orange glow. Should be blue. On the other hand, real Homer would have died long ago of acute radiation...

noob question: is that a uranium rod? or its basically a module containing the uranium rods?

Once did a project in college where we measured the blue light to collect data on a reactor. And by "measured" I mean we shoved a blue light sensitive photo-resistor in a giant ass PVC pipe and poked it into the pool lol
