And you, dear reader, can do the same in a paraglider. "Boring soaring" we call it, but it's gorgeous. Imagine flying in almost still air which is rising, and flying a kilometer out to sea because the whole area is rising. And flying with the sea eagles as friends. Heaven.

Looks like both the airplane and the sheet are styrofoam material. Could they be repelling each other due to static electricity?
