Peacocks are capable of flight despite their large size. A peacock’s tail feathers can reach up to 2 m long & make up about 60% of its body length. Despite these odd proportions, the bird flies just fine, if not very far buff.ly/2V2ZNQC [gif: buff.ly/2wZJQB1]

...and They scare the shit out of you if they drop out of a tree behind you. I had a friend in high school whose parents had a dozen or so. They'd roost in the trees at night, but every now and then one would drop down...You think you're being attacked by a giant bat.

I saw one perched in a fir tree in the middle of snow storm as I was driving to work a few winters ago. Must have been 10 feet up.

I saw a peacock strutting down the sidewalk in Durban once. Incredible looking birds. It never occurred to me that they could fly with that long plumage.
