Everybody saw the Moon. But nobody had ever been there. This video starts by showing astronauts Aldrin, Armstrong, and Collins making their way to the mighty Saturn V, when they started the trip many thought it would never succeed, 51 years ago #Today https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap190716.html …pic.twitter.com/ptIvlTkaR2

On this day in 1969, 51 years ago #Today, Apollo 11, the spacecraft that would land on the Moon for the first time with humans, was launched. Here's what liftoff looked like http://buff.ly/2t3NNOb pic.twitter.com/CB7ocvzpip

The view from the Apollo 11's launch camera E8 was probably the most impressive one, detailing in images the F-1 rocket engines power, igniting and producing the Saturn V's 7.5 million pounds of thrust http://bit.ly/2v63ztg pic.twitter.com/6f3M2IMCqW

This unusual view is the one that the 70mm Airborne Lightweight Optical Tracking System (mounted on an Air Force EC-135 aircraft) captured seconds after Apollo 11 launched 51 years ago #Today. The S-1C stage separates at 2' 41.6" after liftoff http://go.nasa.gov/29CTRHV pic.twitter.com/bDkI2SR0fe

The day you leave your planet to walk on another world and you get to understand this by looking out your window. This view of Earth showing clouds over its surface was photographed from the Apollo 11, 51 years ago #Today https://go.nasa.gov/2t4QSNV pic.twitter.com/0usD7H4iJt

Was it Neil Armstrong or one of the other astronauts who said "I am just like you, except I have seen the earth from far away, and the moon up close"

For me, the moon landing is inextricably tied to Walter Cronkite. (Also tied to losing my virginity but that's another story). https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48857752 …

0n the first moon shot, when they flew, they said take a hamper with you as we don't serve lunch or, even, brunch as we don't have a cabin crew.
