How does it help fish to stay away from predators?

From the article, they swim more slowly, so they’re harder for predators to notice; once the parasite matures they swim faster and higher, becoming easy prey.

I am not sure if the prasite makes the fish act this why intentionally to make it less probable to become a prey. “Correlation is not causation” :))
