The trouble is that the companies making the game want to fully control aspects of the player experience that players handled just fine themselves, do an absolutely abominable job of it and then go "Well, clearly the solution is to just ban people because we never make mistakes".

I see where you're coming from. AI just isn't there yet. For example, Warframe bans anyone who uses trap, and while the AI has improver slightly, it still occasionally bans people who talk about grineer arc traps

Machine learning can't solve this. "AI" can never improve to the point of being functional if you're trying to solve the wrong problem. "Let's make one single unified community and have AI come up with one standard of behavior that retains the most people" is the wrong problem.

The reason they phrase the problem in this way is because: 1. Central servers can force people to buy new games. Shut down the old servers, old games die. Planned obsolescence. 2. Central servers allow loot boxes/DLC enforcement. No hax-ing in items. 3. e-sports ambitions.

It's a game, games are meant to be enjoyed. Games are meant to be fun. People don't join game communities to be harassed. They just wanna play. Yeah it's a war game with vulgar language but it's still a game you play with other people.

This entitlement kids who are new to online gaming have, and what they think is normal or hardcore is amazing. A generation of teenage boys discovered online gaming when it went mass market (with CS, XBL, PSN) and ironically think they are OG rather than toxic newcomers.

Getting frustrated sometimes is a normal reaction (especially due to bad mechanics or code, ugh) and quitting at that point is a good idea, but losing shouldn’t make you angry and when it does it’s usually a sign you have stuff going on to work out. I’ve been there!

You guys are M rated btw, just like any other game, movie, etc. That includes sensitive content, including vulgar langauge, that's how you earn the M rating if nothing else in your game checks out for mature content. MATURE. This looks like the most IMMATURE take on the situation

I'm so confused as to why this option was taken over an optional profanity filter setting. I can understand banning a word like 'n****r', but banning words that can be totally harmless out of context only encourages the awful 'I'm offended' culture that has developed recently.

If people are totally fine with playing an M-rated game that depicts death in such a casual setting where the aim of the game is to literally kill other people I feel it's pretty hypocritical to then turn around and say that offensive language is hurting your killing experience.

I love the game and I think it's great that Ubisoft wants to make the online community a safer place but at the same time I think people need to remember what sort of game Siege is and that it should be up to individual players to choose what language they are shown while in-game
