A lot of buzz around WhatsApp as the primary channel for business transactions in India. Had a stellar buying experience yesterday. Hard to believe how transformational this is until you see it. Thread:

/ Information on Google maps in India is extremely unreliable. There are scammers who change phone numbers on the listings and it's hard to trust these in Gurgaon. Ingenious solution: listing had photos, the first one being a visiting card with the owner's number on itpic.twitter.com/8pXCEkrI9f

/ I called the owner. Oldest trick in the book, a number that's easy to memorize. No need to flip back and forth between screens. (8xx3xx2424) He asked me what I wanted and sent me the full catalogue on WhatsApp. <5 mins into my search I've narrowed down what I want.pic.twitter.com/5y0C0G6gOJ

/ Next up, I asked if he delivers. Said he doesn't have delivery people but can use an uber. I just need to pay the uber fare as delivery charges. Win win. 30 mins later, the owner, myself and the uber driver are on a conference call to discuss the exact delivery location.pic.twitter.com/fRjHu9VU5f

/ I make the payment through UPI. He sends me an invoice on my email. Fastest and smoothest delivery experience for a product I'd never ordered or bought before.
