I’ve been a Star Wars fanatic since I was a kid. I became an actor because of it. I spent my early 20’s in a shed building model kits. My parents couldn’t give two fucks about any of it... until Mandalorian. After 20 years I’m having FaceTime calls with my mum about Boba Fett.
Disney gave me that. And now my parents are interested in watching the OT

I'll never understand the concept of blocking others from liking what you like because they don't like it "the right way" or "hard enough". I'm glad you and your parents have another interest to share!
I understand it to the extent of needing to retort against nonsensical ideas in a subculture's Zeitgeist. Responding to bad or incorrect notions isn't gatekeeping, per se, but it must be done. The sad thing is that the misguided gatekeepers feel the same way. Hence.
