Anyway that’s where I currently stand on that. My opinion is not fixed, it will evolve and become more educated in time. What helps is reading your replies, those that agree and disagree. I’m constantly learning and I will always try to listen and understand. I want to be better.

Your transparency and honesty means a lot. People harp on about this “best person for the role” etc. but that only works if we have an equal system where LGBTQIA+ artists aren’t consistently undermined, or even denied access to those career paths in the first place.

As a producer I’m always aware that being able to tell stories is a privilege, and authenticity is key to countering exploitation. Queer stories deserves authentically queer retellings, it’s really that simple. The process and the art will be better for it.

This is a good way to view it. Playing a character who happens to be not straight is one thing. Playing a character that serves as an LGBTQ+ story or narrative can take away from actual queer artists. You rock dude

I think the most important thing here is more investnent + opportunities for all underrepresented folks, with equal opportunity to fail & make mistakes. Sometimes people take these so they can work. Once we have more work, it'll be easier for people to not take other's space.
