The media wasn't upset when Republican observers were denied access to the count. The media is now upset that they are not allowed access to the courtroom. Hm.https://twitter.com/bradheath/status/1328738133987401729 …

Hi. I don’t work for AP but public access to court proceedings is both awesome and an actual constitutional right.

Hi. I never said you work for AP. Reporters often represent each other’s interests, as you have done in your follow up sentence, proving my wider point. Also, observer access to an election count is a right and was ordered by a court and is awesome. Thanks for playing.

I don't find it inconsistent for the press to litigate in defense of its rights and to let others litigate their own. Beyond that, I don't understand your point at all.

My point is it would be consistent and in keeping with the ostensible role of the press to litigate in defence of transparency for all parties, not just for itself and certainly not just for the left.

It's not and has never been the ostensible role of the press to fight political parties' battles. (The press did press for its own ability to observe vote-counting, which is why there are so many photos of poll-watchers and workers doing their jobs.)

It is and has always been the ostensible role of the press to report accurately on elections and if there are skewed or faulty mechanisms at play. But then again it’s not like the press has ever actually lived up to its own claims of being fair and neutral arbiters.pic.twitter.com/5tttufKaTY

I invite you to look at our reporting, then. And in particular the coverage of what's happened to claims that Republican poll-watchers were denied access when they were tested in court. But it is also part of our role to not repeat allegations that are demonstrably false.
