I think the city needs a Mayor - Khan just isn’t the right man for the job.
London did fine for centuries without a centralised, partisan chief executive. Not only is it impractical, it’s also nowhere in line with the English Constitution.

And the City of London has had a Lord Mayor for centuries - since basically the Magna Carta.
