You paid your rent with a credit card, I assume, and the Landlord was charged a credit card fee which he passed on to you to return the courtesy :)
I love seeing that my rent always has a $71.00 convenience fee attached to it. I have to say I don't find it convenient at all.

My peeve is when I pay real estate taxes online, I’m socked with $2 convenience fee. I’m paying extra $2 so they can conveniently have money in no time, without having to take real check to the bank & wait for it to clear.
