Does the study assume austerity is necessary after a recession? Because most economists would disagree

Not sure that’s true. Most economists said don’t do austerity. Most economists said don’t cut in a recession. The world we have is created by right wing fanatics who disguise themselves as agents of reason

austerity was closer to mainstream economics back in 2009. these days it's more acknowledged that austerity was economically harmful.

It's not economists who make this system, it's politicians. More often than not politicians ignore the economists.
