Genuine question from one of the few people on Twitter who is not an epidemiologist: For those who believe shutting everything down for a few weeks is the solution to Coronavirus, why haven't we done this to get rid of influenza?
Ever-changing strains. But that's not to say that curing the flu (and even the cold) aren't massive industries. They are. Furthermore, the novel coronavirus requires the current response because we know so little about it, its mortality rates, and how long it can remain.
