40 minutes on hold with D.C. Department of Health. Woman answers. Me: "I'm trying to get a coronavirus test..." Her: "Please hold". She forwarded my call to the generic 311 city services number.

I got some helpful advice from PG County, MD. Nothing from any DC authority. Goes to show it’s not a matter of central governance problems, but rather implementation at a local level.

Call the lab - Quest Diagnostics. Ask if they can refer to you to a doctor so you can get the test.

Raheem...presuming you’ve had the flu before, how are your symptoms similar or different?

FYI, guidance DC DOH is giving healthcare providers. Says patients should see hc provider 1st, then hc provider vets patient, calls a # if COVID suspected, leaves a vm with a tel # re the patient, DOH returns hc provider vm's first: http://shorturl.at/amvOW

That PDF has a list of 10 things the HC provider will need to establish/do *prior* to contacting DC DOH - including screening for strep, flu, other respiratory panels. So you gotta get tested for those before they'll do a COVID test, among other things.

The less people they test. The less confirmed cases they have. Simples.
