I'm on your side here, but the word itself is short for involuntarily celibate which seems a pretty straightforward description. It was invented by a woman:https://www.elle.com/culture/news/a34512/woman-who-started-incel-movement/ …

i know what it's short for -- but again, the problem is the implication that a person is *owed* sex. no one is.
-
I don't get how that is implied by the term. E.g. if I really wanted to be an actor but couldn't get anybody to cast me in a movie, we could say that I'm "involuntarily unemployed as an actor" w/o implying that I'm owed an acting gig.
-
More importantly, I don't think focusing on the terminology is going to help anybody. Who cares if they call themselves incels or something else... It's their behaviour (entitled and filled with hate for women) that's the real problem.

One of the most curious things to ponder here is that the "manosphere" usually subscribes heavily to bullshit interpretations of Darwinian evolution + "survival of the fittest" ethos. So what are
#incel so mad about? Natural selection? Isn't that a concept they kind of worship? -

Wait...
@FearthePen79...you aren't just pointing me to writing are you. You subscribe to the theories outlined here? -
just want to chime in here and point out that anons on 4chan positing dumb 'theories' proves absolutely nothing at all.

maybe opening a discussion with some really crap people that no one is entitled to other people’s bodies for any reason, and that’s true for every person, no matter how much they believe themselves to be an unlovable troll?
-
and, further, that once this very, VERY simple/fundamental concept has been learned (to wit, no one is ever, ever owed sex for any reason), these embittered people may find that other humans are nicer to them? that maybe they can build relationships based on mutual respect???

It's not a new term or anything, it was around long before that guy in Toronto decided to play real-life Grand Theft Auto
-
yes that is true but it also isn't my point
-
What I mean is that "incel" is a term that already describes a very specific community/brand of misogyny; using it isn't validating its beliefs, it just identifies adherents to that set of beliefs
-
This is like saying we should use the term “neo-Nazi” because we already have the word “racist”.
-
I don't know. Sometimes it's necessary to specify specific subgroups - like mentioning a specific crime family vs. just saying "organized crime". Thoughts?

Why can't they just be guys with REALLY bad game
so like 95% of all guys except with some rather odd tendencies haha -
The concept that connecting with people is a "game" is one popularized by self-styled "Pick-Up Artists" and is in the same "manosphere" as the "Incel" fringe of that misogynistic culture.
-
If more guys learned this "game" i.e. how to socialize with anyone in any circumstance in a friendly, fun way instead of the useless garbage they're taught at public schools then unfortunate incidents such as this would not occur

-
Hmm...interesting. So these types of behaviors don’t happen in private schools?
