Yes so I still think it's bad for pros but good for players like me. Not sure if I'm still missing some info or what but that's still my stance...

It's good if you can afford to go. But how much is a trip to Taiwan? Can you pay for that? Because a lot of current pros or semi pros can't.

No but I haven't paid for travel anywhere bc I can't and that's absurd and it's not my career....I feel you are confused on my stance here....let me make it clear. I am an amateur player who doesn't fly anywhere including US to play in HS tournaments, and now I can play online

I'm not sure how it's good for amateurs. Yes you can play online qualifiers but you could play challenger cups before. And challenger cups could also get you paid (unlike qualifiers). It's worse for everyone except very small group of top tier players from first world countries.

Now you can't go from amateur to pro without paying a lot. Literally no option. I know many good players who qualified for play offs through ladder while having full time job or being full time students. I qualified through challengers and basically earned $1k for playing online.

I think something that may be being overlooked is the location of the LANs. Based on 1st location, they’ve picked a destination where players who qualify can make it a holiday, maybe they do the same with APAC and EU events, but maybe not

I would also add one more thing: many “semi-pro” players are students who have a lot of free time (enough to grind ladder or open cups) but no money.
