For us its about the roads not being gritted think the councils should be slated not teachers!!
I would imagine the roads around the schools are gritted. Unfortunately Grit does not melt snow immediately and also needs traffic going over it to help it to work, which is why you see more issues when it snows overnight.

No grit at all..called the council they said they'd come & fill the grit bins....that we don't have!! Grit wagon came when wagons got stuck & blocked all road but its stuck behind the wagon!!

That’s disappointing. Pretty sure schools should be on the priority routes (along with main roads, hospitals etc).
