    big part of the millennial “adulting is hard” schtick is the push to individuation, in confrontation with a social context that is simultaneously atomized and antithetical to material autonomy. you “have to” handle things independently but have no means to actually do so.

    Exactly what downside does Unifor imagine if they just said 'we would prefer it be nationalized, if it is taking tax payer money'? Unions that protect Capital are unions that do not - cannot - protect workers.

    's says today's agreement between the federal gov't & is step one of ensuring the future of our aviation sector.

    Lots of contemporary discourse today - some neoliberalism talk, 'neo-feudalism', precarity etc. - is premised on the idea that Fordism, social democracy, Les Trente Glorieuses etc. were the NORM of capitalism as opposed to an exceptional interregnum.

    if a problem is caused by the workings of capitalism, and an election comes down to a socially conservative pro-capitalist party or a socially liberal pro-capitalist party, that problem is not going to be solved. no use pretending

    the problem isn't 'capitalism,' it is 'crony capitalism,' which happens when people engage in behaviours encouraged by capitalism, instead of doing the opposite for some reason
