I followed his campaign in other ways than headline-grabbing debates. Like his community outreach and coalition building with deep local advocates. And watched his decisions on the job. Highlighting his humanity and intimacy with the justice system is not pity, it’s authenticity

The point is that his father was involved in the commission of a crime that led to three families losing their family members. He also is responsible for letting many criminals go because of his belief in the value of criminals as opposed to victims. That’s the point!

Actually no, he simply believes that people who have not been convicted of anything should not be jailed for months or years on end because they’re too poor to afford bail. Whereas a rich person accused of the same crime can pay their way out of pretrial detention!
