"If the spinning jenny was such a swell idea in 1764 C.E., why was it not in 1264, or 264, or for that matter in 1264 B.C.E.?" (, 2010) My paper in on the 'Psychological Origins of the Industrial Revolution' is out.

This is an absolutely fascinating, eye-opening piece by about the nonsense of 'surveillance capitalism'. Research shows: online advertising is *ineffective*. And no, Cambridge Analytica did not 'hack' our brains.

All behavior has causes. No explanation of those causes justifies immoral behavior. If we think explanations justify bad behavior we punish the discovery of those causes. If we punish the discovery of the causes we do not improve our human condition or reduce immoral behavior.

The story of the pyramids is one of my favorite illustrations of the nature of trial-and-error in innovation. See, the 1st pyramid was the not-very-pyramid-y Step Pyramid of Djoser. Heard of Imohotep? He designed this. It was the tallest building in the world for 40 years. 1/7

10 personal musings about ROMA. 1) The opening shot suggests that earth (the shit-infested ground) and heaven (the plane) are irreconcilably far even if they are joined -momentarily- and revealed, by water (the reflection). All truths in ROMA are revealed by water.
