Hi @RachelleMDavis, thank you for the great codecraft panel! One question, if you don't mind: What would you recommend focusing on as a student graduating next year: Gaining work xp (which I've been doing for several years) or building a portfolio of code samples/projects? Thanks

Glad you enjoyed the panel! I’m a huge advocate for internships; if you have the opportunity to do that, seize it. It’s a great way to get real world experience contributing to a team and project with many other people whom you can learn from, both in terms of tech and career.

Thank you for getting back to me, I appreciate your advice. If I can ask a second question: I'll be finishing my degree in August. When should I start applying for an (associate) engineering role? It probably doesn't make sense to do so now as it's about 9 months away, does it?

It’s not too early to be looking at postings from companies that interest you to get an understanding of skill sets they’re looking for; try to hone those skills over the next several months. Probably want to start applying at least 2-3 months ahead of your desired start date.
