This is what I've been dying to share! This is my kid. He entered this piece in Blizzard's annual student art contest and won. Along with the other winners, Blizzard flew him to Irvine where he got to tour headquarters & had a mentoring session with one of the artists! He's worked so hard to achieve his dreams. In high school, during the summer instead of taking a much needed break from his AP classes, he continued working on his art. He bought books, found online courses, and put himself on a schedule to practice daily.

He continued with that same dedication in college and did advanced work on his own teaching himself design programs he hadn't learned in class yet but that he knew were used in the game art world.

When he found out about the contest he started planning his schedule a year in advance and set deadlines for himself. He worked so freaking hard to achieve his dream. And then it happened...

I got a phone call in mid Feb and all he said was, "Mamma, I won." I screamed and jumped up and down and dropped the F-bomb at least a dozen times. I burst into tears and cried for days every time I thought about it.

In early April he flew to Irvine to Blizzard headquarters. Each time I thought about him walking through those doors, I teared up. Then when he sent me a pic of him in front of one of the statues outside the doors I lost it again. I cried the whole time he was gone. I'm a crier.
