This is my favorite quote of all time. It’s both beautiful and profound, striking and enlightening; a short journey into self-realization with a heartfelt & unavoidable humility. ✨♥️🚀👽✨

✨🦋✨The Butterfly Nebula✨🦋✨ This isn’t your average butterfly; located ~3,800 light years from Earth, this cosmic butterfly has a wingspan of 3 light years. The central star is a scorching 250,000°C and radiates high amounts of Ultraviolet light.

I've always loved how preposterous the Delta IV Heavy looks. It looks like something a kid would draw turned into real life. And then it goes and sets itself on fire before it launches. Delta IV Heavy launches are just such a great show. Credit: ULA

A black hole merger can "kick" the final black hole out of its host galaxy. In a new paper, with and , we extract this kick from gravitational wave signals. If / see a signal like below, we can tell you how fast the final BH is moving! 1/n

Galaxy time! Here's a look at NGC 1022, a barred spiral 66 million light-years away in the constellation Cetus. The data comprising this image was acquired with the WFC3 camera on in June 2017. The light we see today from this galaxy left it as the Cretaceous ended.

Look up in February! It’s the best time of the year to view Mercury, Mars disappears behind the Moon on Feb. 18 and the bright red star on Orion’s shoulder, Betelgeuse, has been acting weird. (Or has it?) ✨

Sudden flashes of radio waves (fast radio bursts) appear from all direction in deep space. Nobody knows what they are--and the latest attempt to track one down has only deepened the mystery.
