Excited to share our new paper, now out in J. Exp Child Psych, in which demonstrates that others' joint-attention matters for third-party word learning in children. Check it out! or with no paywall at .

This is definitely a must-read. Meticulous investigation of the word gap, explored in multiple ways.

First day of classes for the semester, and I can only hope to earn such high praise as this course review last year: "Prof. Romeo's class is the only thing I would get up for at 9am" 🥰🤣

As an early adversity researcher, married to an addiction medicine clinician, I'm acutely aware of how strange it seems that when considering where we live next, we immediately look up the rates of poverty & opioid abuse and gravitate to places with the MOST.

Great new paper on infant-adult neural coupling: strongest coupling in prefrontal cortex (!) during times of joint attention, and babies may even guide adults toward the next interaction. Super cool stuff!!

Fascinating preprint from Danielle Bassett's group: "We show that this overcitation of men and undercitation of women is driven largely by the citation practices of men, and is increasing with time despite greater diversity in the academy."

Best lesson learned: Life never gets LESS busy. Do anything to help your future self. Currently thanking last year me for not only taking meticulous notes on what did/didn't go well in my spr. course, but actually editing slides/projects/exams for this year. Thanks last year me!!

In order to meet the challenges of our changing economy, the U.S. must develop talent from across all sectors of our society. Our reports provide a comprehensive road map for increasing involvement of absent and underrepresented minorities.

Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is a tenure-track job. Although a grant score below the payline would also be nice. 😂
