I decided that this year, every day, I would knit a row on a scarf to mark the corresponding daily temperature/weather of my town. It felt like a good way to engage with the changing climate and with the changing year. A way to notice and not look away. Here's January then.

A true thing: people don’t pay to watch stuff on Netflix. They pay for the option to watch stuff on Netflix. Understanding how much people value that is a lot more complicated than minutes spent watching.

as a designer for emerging technologies working across multiple disciplines this topic has come up a lot recently. shared language + design processes that allow for sharing knowledge between teams is difficult to implement but so important !!

Question how much of the ~$200 B in venture capital raised in the past few years do we think will end up in Facebook and Google's hands via startup advertising?

It's cool when scifi movies have characters upload skills to their brain like "Kung Fu" or "Piloting" but what about soft skills? Where's the "Whoa, I know how to build a supportive community" or "Whoa, I know self care"

Snapchat is underrated as a v accessible design tool and i think a lot of young designers in the near future will say it‘s how they got their start. people are hacking the gif feature to create awesome little animations!

This is another absolute favorite example of how successful marketing works on TikTok, this time for an app. And it starts with this video of Shawn Mendes... [1/one of these annoying marketing takeaway threads sorry]

The best part about being a Creative Director is you say vague things that sound smart but don't mean anything and then other people need to do all the work and then you win an award and you get to accept it and thank the team and everyone thinks you're so humble and inspiring.

If we want to get technical here, the only real difference between “fan fiction” and “working with an existing IP” ...is a license.

I did it. I caved in & started to make in VR part of the neighborhood I grew up in. All scanned textures, no uncanny valley. There, on the other side of the street, was our house. If you recreate a memory, is it still a memory?

More seriously these images seem like an interesting potential precedent for architectural graphics of the future in terms of representing multiple spatial cross-sections simultaneously.

Some of the most dynamic folks I've met in the industry are architects, filmmakers, musicians, teachers, and tinkerers. Many of them play games, but the connective tissue isn't games, it's a relentless curiosity and drive to connect products with people on a deeper level.

"Minds are basically computers" is wrong if you think of computers as abstract turing machines but spot on if you think of computers as a horrible assemblage of kludges bridging incompatible legacy code which only work because critical bugs are masking other critical bugs.

This is intriguing as an oblique form of "data" visualization. The plots are not directly measuring anything where they have no reference grid lines, but they arguably couldn't be more objective where they are purely analog in nature.
