Genuine question for the people who are worried about who you would call in the case of a robbery if the police get defunded: have you ever been robbed, and what did the police do to help?

My car was broken into inside our locked car park...windows smashed. Called police and they said to come down and they’d give me a letter for insurance. They told me they don’t attend car break ins.

Sexually assaulted in the lift of my building by a stranger. I had to fight off my attacker. Police told me my description was useless and I never heard another word from them.

OK. But if there were no cops, that guy would still be in your apartment.

When my estranged wife was a teen she came home to find someone in her kitchen, grabbed a shotgun and blasted him from across the counter, he ran hopped the fence dripping blood. Police came and didn't believe that she could shoot. Didn't even look for the guy.

This has been our experience also. Hubs work truck was stolen. MPD did shit. GPS found truck we informed PD, they returned truck, damaged, no arrests, when questioned were told city is #1 in nation for car thefts. I lost it!

Stood in police station and said “Mamm that’s not something you brag about that’s something you fix!” Cop didn’t know how to respond! Seriously WTEF! They’ve never once been useful when needed.
