Say a prayer to St. Anthony. Catholic school told us he was the patron saint of lost things (but did not mention he had been de-sainted). Also, do not confuse Anthony with St. Jude, the patron saint of lost causes, to whom our algebra teacher made us pray before tests. 
The other day, I lost something while out on a story, and since then, I've had recurring dreams in which I've found it in various places. While awake, I've checked those places, and nada, undermining the notion that dreams reveal hidden truths.
