This decade, I have fallen off a stage at an awards ceremony; arrived 30 min late on my first day at the LA Times; slipped and split my pants on an LA sidewalk; and taken a wrong turn (in a car) onto what turned out to be a hiking trail and emerged in the middle of a city park.
On the flip side, I was the first in my family to get a college degree, lived in a half-dozen states, left the U.S. for the first time, got my dream job at the NYT, and twice went to Beyonce concerts and saw the Grand Canyon... but that’s way less interesting.
