I wrote about a small church on the Upper West Side where the congregation is united by its shared values. Believing in God isn't necessarily one of them.https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/06/nyregion/the-presbyterian-church-where-believing-in-god-isnt-strictly-necessary.html?action=click&module=Editors%20Picks&pgtype=Homepage …

Great story. There are some really cool communities like this around the country. United more by hope than faith

This would be every UU church.

Yeah, I’m surprised the article didn’t mention that UUs have been doing this for quite awhile. A raft of scientists, humanists, transcendentalists, abolitionists, agnostics, & atheists have clung to Unitarianism & Universalism for over a couple hundred years.

Then it's a social club, not a church.

Great story! Rutgers provided office space to the organization my husband ran when we lived in NYC. A great church doing great work!

There's a wonder secular humanist Jewish congregation in NYC called The City Congregationhttps://citycongregation.org/

Such churches are in lots of places but they're usually UU. We even have one here in the sticks (northern MI). For those who want the fellowship without magical thinking.
