T-R-U-M-P that's why. Any POTUS that cared about doing anything about this pandemic would have used the DPA to make sure we have enough PPE, including numerous. N-95's for every citizen with instructions for use. Pandemics are a drag for Trump's election.

Honest question from a fellow (literally) physician, politics/optics aside (goes wo saying they’re bad), is it really that unacceptable to reuse sterilized masks? Sorry if I’m missing something here.

Re-processing one time use items introduces unnecessary and still unmeasured risk. There are issues with disgust- particularly if you use someone else’s masks. There are issues with smell even with UVc. It’s August and I still ring my hands over small size N95 supply.
