Agree, quite a list and really do not understand why Truvada there. Tenofovir is now off patent and a generic version of Truvada will be available in 2020. The cost of generic Truvada in a France is ~ € 160/mo.

For shame. I'm sure we'll see the same thing happen with Descovy until it goes generic in 2026. Good thing the vast majority of PrEP users can safely use generic TDF/FTC starting next year!

A cynic may say “good thing most pts can use generic Truvada next year… Until it mysteriously goes on shortage/back order/recall.” I think there are way more dynamics going on than the ICER report can take into account. It’s the monopolies in drug manufacturing that is at fault

If differential pricing by indication were possible while striving for value-based prices, the average Truvada price should be going down over time as it’s used for PrEP by more and lower risk people (good but less cost-effective). The price is still a bargain for HIV treatment.
