This is serious folks. The Pentagon has been warning us for years about the instability a changing climate will create across the globe. We need to transition to a renewable fuel economy and pronto.

I hate selling it like this because it just feels gross, but: Europe is struggling with a few million migrants, the US is terrified of a 4,000 person caravan, what about hundreds of millions of people? How would the world handle 300,000,000 African/middle eastern refugees?

First, don't feel gross, it's a good question and one that I struggle with as an environmental activist - how to solve these very large problems that only make migration worse and work to protect the environment.

The problem requires a lot of funding, as we're seeing with the Green New Deal, and Americans are not inclined to be taxed. So the question becomes how to prioritize environmental protection and how we deal with incoming climate migrants, because they are the next wave.

I see renewable energy not only as a vitally important step for keeping the earth inhabitable, but also the best foreign policy decision we could possibly make. Trump wants to get out of the Middle East? Ok then go green and produce what oil we still need from our own supply...

You are right. I think we need to understand that fossil fuel consumption will likely be in our future for some time, but we can lessen it considerably with new renewable technology and encourage our energy companies to invest there.
