The Globe and Mail has obtained a trove of 150,000 chat room messages from a group of Canadian right-wing extremists. The messages show how the group "is actively recruiting new members, buying weapons, and trying to influence political parties."https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-canadas-new-far-right-a-trove-of-private-chat-room-messages-reveals/?utm_medium=Referrer:+Social+Network+/+Media&utm_campaign=Shared+Web+Article+Links …

That's scaring!! In Germany, denying the Holocaust is a felony. Maybe other countries should follow suit.

Maybe altering education would help. When I was in school, Africa = dark continent, South America = remnants of indigenous, Asia = thousands of years ago, but Europe.. From caveman to now, nothing but glory and the Romans brought it all together.

You have the right to say what you want. You do not have the right to spread misinformation, racist abuse, sexist abuse. By doing so, you are propagating bigotry which is responsible for generations of violence and division. You will be held accountable for it.

I don't care about people facing consequences for being jerks, I just despise the idea that being a jerk should be a jailable offense or even a legal offense at all besides targeted harassment.

Is routinely spreading malicious lies about one group or another not "targeted harassment" to you? Giving a platform for these bad actors is promoting targeted harassment on an industrial level.

Is having a negative opinion about something or somebody, and being misinformed yet vocal about said opinion, criminal in your eyes? What does that accomplish? And who judges what negative and untrue claims should be deemed criminal?
-
When did I say falsehoods needs to be criminalized? I said people who spread malicious misinformation should not be platformed. You are making non-sequitur arguments.
-
If we're talking in the context of Canada, this has already happened. Being an ass is already criminal, yet it shouldn't be.
