    Trump is doubling down on authoritarian fear-mongering & hate. At his Ohio rally tonight, he spent the whole time singling out groups of Americans to incite hate against, describing the country as a violent, lawless wasteland, then offering himself as the only one who can fix it.

    We’re seeing evidence of Russia’s horrific war crimes in Ukraine every single day. Zelensky is the face of the resistance to that. The idea that his heroism could be diminished by something so trivial (relatively speaking) reflects an incredibly skewed outlook.

    This is an interesting incident that seems to reveal just how badly Russia misjudged its ability to win an information war against Ukraine. First of all, it’s just a low quality fake. But more importantly, I think they’ve miscalculated how people would react if it *were* real.

    For example: The picture hanging on the suspect’s wall is a meme of Yakub, a figure associated with the Nation of Islam. This is straight-up trolling, but a bunch of news orgs will likely take it seriously and miss the fact that it’s an internet meme.

    The fact that the suspected shooter appears to have posted info about the shooting on 4chan tells us something about him. With people like this, you have to view everything they say and do in the context of Internet culture, memes, and trolling.

    DC Police say Raymond Spencer was found dead from suicide in his 5th floor apartment alongside “multiple firearms and a large quantity of ammo.” These are the weapons allegedly found in his apartment.

    The suspect posted a video online showing himself shooting at the school and onto the street. The video, which I am not going to link to, shows a red target in the middle of the screen as rapid gunfire erupts. You can see students running through the windows as he fires at them.
