Being the NASA Artist in Residence was a "very weird job."
It was such a dream come true, at first she didn't believe them. For nearly 3 yrs she got to be "a fly on the wall", fascinated by whiteboards for future projects that were "40 ft long with 10,000 yr timelines".pic.twitter.com/sJ8pduUoOgPrikaži ovu nit -
VR is a "very geeky" art form & "cumbersome way to do things," but she loves it "because you can fly." "We know nothing really about the connection between the brain and the body...VR has many fascinating & important...applications in many other things."pic.twitter.com/bh3hcCl5Vc

Instead of scolding her, her mother said "I didn't know what a great swimmer you were. And what a wonderful diver". "That moment changed my life...I learned everything... that oftentimes you don't deserve what you get. Also that words are so powerful."pic.twitter.com/cWhS0WqLqf

PROS:
"Pest management program" for large mammals.
Alerts to the presence of potential predators, giving them a chance to escape.
CONS:
The oxpecker courtship and copulation which take place on the host animal's back.
The whole parasitic relationship thing.pic.twitter.com/08HuNJoKBYPrikaži ovu nit -
The birds prefer certain mammals and tick species; in many areas, domestic cattle are now the preferred host. They are also known to eat carrion. Elephants do not like oxpeckers and try to shake them off- possibly because they're sensitive to their sharp claws.

Related to starlings, their genus name Buphaga literally means "ox-eater." Found in the African savanna, they spend most of their day eating ticks and insects off of large mammals- but they will also feed on their wounds, ear wax and mucous from the nose and eyes.
